 Modesty: the quality, in women, of dressing or behaving in a way that is intended to avoid attracting sexual interest.

 When you look at that definition, it becomes pretty clear what it means. It simply means that we do not dress to arouse sexual interest. And let us be honest, modesty is beautiful. It covers the body, modest clothing sometimes features simple, unadorned designs that avoid drawing attention to the body or its shape. Think of plain colors and minimal clothing. Modest clothing prioritizes comfort and practicality, often using breathable, natural fabrics like cotton, linen, or silk. Modest clothing is also designed to be functional, emphasizing ease of movement. 

Now, Baggy clothing is perfectly suited to this redefinition of modesty, as it allows people to wear items that provide coverage and comfort without feeling restricted. Loose-fitting blouses, wide-leg jeans, large dresses, and casual outerwear are ideal for people who want to exhibit their style while remaining modest.

The move toward modest and comfortable clothing is a welcome reminder that:  Proverbs 31:23 says: 'Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land’. Do we think a husband would be respected and proud of his wife when she dresses poorly and walks around in mini skirts and crop tops? In Proverbs 31:25 it continues to say: ‘She is clothed with strength and dignity’. And even though I believe these words are also talking about her behavior, dignity also speaks of a sense of style, but also of being worthy of respect. And as a woman, I cannot imagine showing dignity without dressing modestly.
